Chisun Inn Marugame Zentsuji Opening2009.11.09
Solare Hotels & Resorts Co. Ltd. (Head Office: Minato Ward, Tokyo; President & CEO: A. G. Virili; http://www.solarehotels.com/english/) will open Chisun Inn Marugame Zentsuji in Marugame City on November 9th, marking Solare’s first property on the island of Shikoku.
Chisun Inn Marugame Zentsuji is located about 1.5 km from the Zentsuji Interchange on the Takamatsu Expressway and close to the Seto-Ohashi Bridge, a feat of modern engineering and the longest combined road and rail bridge in the world. The property is easily accessible from the city centers of Marugame, Zentsuji and Tadotsu, and provides convenient access to the numerous historical Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the area, such as Zentsuji Temple, Mt. Kompira and its Kotohira Shrine, which welcomes about four million tourists a year.
Interestingly, Kagawa prefecture is also known as the birthplace of the famous Sanuki Udon noodles, the type that typically comes to mind when Japanese people hear the word “Udon”. Sanuki Udon is made from locally-produced, superior-quality wheat and salt, making it a must for every visitor to try. Recently, Udon has seen a revival as a traditional, healthy food, and many Udon lovers flock to the region to sample different shops’ authentic Sanuki Udon. Visitors enjoy taking in the local sites while sampling different noodle shops, making Chisun Inn Marugame Zentsuji an attractive base for leisure and noodle lovers alike.
Solare Hotels & Resorts CEO A.G. Virili explains, “With the opening of Chisun Inn Marugame Zentsuji, we are not only proud to celebrate our first hotel on Shikoku and in Kagawa Prefecture, but also excited to be neighbors with so many historical, cultural and culinary attractions. We hope our guests will take advantage of the government’s new discounted road tolls on weekends and holidays. The opening of Chisun Inn Marugame Zentsuji will bring our total number of roadside-type Chisun Inn properties to 22, with a combined 2,080 guest rooms.”
