Chisun Inn Kurashiki Mizushima Opening 2009.10.28
(Tokyo, Japan - October 26, 2009) Solare Hotels & Resorts Co. Ltd. (Head Office: Minato Ward, Tokyo; President & CEO: A. G. Virili; http://www.solarehotels.com/english/) will open Chisun Inn Kurashiki Mizushima in Kurashiki City on October 28th, marking Solare’s first property in Okayama Prefecture.
Chisun Inn Kurashiki Mizushima is located along National Route 430 and close to the Seto-Ohashi Bridge, a mega engineering marvel and the longest combined road and rail bridge in the world, hopping across five small islands to join Kurashiki City in Okayama Prefecture on Japan’s main island of Honshu with Sakaide City in Kagawa Prefecture on the island of Shikoku. In the future, the bridge will be integrated into the national high-speed railway network to accommodate Shinkansen “bullet” trains as well.
The Mizushima district is not only a leading industrial zone and home to many oil, coal, steel and transport machinery companies; it also offers convenient access to the Seto-Ohashi Bridge, making Chisun Inn Kurashiki Mizushima attractive to business and leisure travelers to the Setouchi region and Shikoku Islands.
Solare Hotels & Resorts CEO A.G. Virili explains, “The opening of Chisun Inn Kurashiki Mizushima in this key region of Okayama is part of our strategy to take advantage of the central government’s economic recovery program to stimulate domestic road travel – road tolls between any two points on most Japanese expressways are set at a flat fee of just 1,000 yen (US$10) on weekends, which has encouraged much more leisure travel, especially by families. A family outing used to cost upwards of 10,000 yen (US$100) in toll charges alone. All our Chisun roadside-type hotels and inns in Japan are ideally located to benefit from the discounted road tolls, and Chisun Inn Kurashiki Mizushima in particular is positioned to serve the needs of travelers between the Chugoku, Shikoku and Kansai areas. Furthermore, when both Chisun Inn Kurashiki Mizushima in Okayama Prefecture and Chisun Inn Kofu Isawa in Yamanashi Prefecture open on October 28th, it will bring our number of roadside-type Chisun Inn properties to 21 with 1,982 guestrooms in total.”
