New Roadside Chisun Inns in Karuizawa and Sendai2008.02.12

In spring 2008, Solare Hotels & Resorts Co. Ltd. (Head Office: Minato Ward, Tokyo; President: A. G. Virili; http://www.solarehotels.com/english/) will begin construction of Chisun Inns in Kararuizawa, Kitasaku-gun, Nagano Prefecture, and on a site near Sendai Port, Miyagi Prefecture.

Chisun Inn Karuizawa is located along heavily trafficked National Route 18 in Karuizawa, one of the most popular resort destinations in Japan, welcoming 7.8 million visitors each year. It is the first two-story Chisun Inn to be built, in accordance with the municipal ordinance for natural preservation of this resort area. Conveniently located a mere 4.5 km from the Karuizawa Interchange on the Joshinetsu Expressway, the property is near the heart of Karuizawa, making it a highly visible and desirable hotel in close proximity to popular tourist spots like Mt. Asama and Shiraito Falls, surrounded by leading golf courses, ski resorts, tennis complexes and the popular Premium Outlet Mall. The property expects many long-stay guests in the summer, given Karuizawa’s status as one of Japan’s leading summer resorts. In Nagano Prefecture, the Chisun Inn Suwa Inter and Chisun Inn Shiojiri-kita Inter are already in operation, while Chisun Inn Nagano R18 and Chisun Inn Saku Inter are under development.

Chisun Inn Sendai Port Messe is the second roadside-type Chisun Inn in Miyagi Prefecture, following the Chisun Inn Sendai Izumi Inter. Solare also operates the Chisun Hotel Sendai, for a total of three properties in the Prefecture. This newest addition to the Chisun family in Miyagi Prefecture is located near JR Tagajo Station in Miyagino Ward about 900 m from the Sendai Kohoku Interchange, which links Sanriku Expressway and Sendai East Road. The property offers easy access to Yume Messe Miyagi, a large exhibition facility, the Fullcast Stadium Miyagi, home to the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles baseball team, and popular surfing spots. Moreover, the large scale commercial facility, “Sendai Port Outlet Park” will open this autumn. The property is ideally located to attract the leisure market, with approximately 144,000 tourists every year disembarking at the ferry pier close to the hotel, which is expected to also result in strong demand from inbound foreign travelers. Many printing companies, paper factories and electric equipment makers have their operations nearby. Accordingly, the hotel expects patronage from both business and leisure travelers.

Solare Hotels & Resorts CEO A.G. Virili stated; “We have been actively expanding our network of Chisun Inn roadside hotels throughout Japan, with our 10th new Chisun Inn opening in January 2008. This year will be our busiest yet, with 11 new Chisun Inn roadside hotel openings and almost 30 new construction starts. This will enable us to open new Chisun Inns at a rate of almost 2 per month in 2009. In addition, we are actively seeking franchise opportunities to continue to expand our growth nationwide, so that we have at least one Chisun Inn in every prefecture of Japan by 2012.”
